Complimentary and Double Complimentary

Complimentary colour combination.  Opposites on the colour wheel.
Double Complimentary.  Two colours next to each other and their opposites on the colour wheel.   This one is still in progress.

Split Complimentary

A Split Complimentary colour scheme  is one consisting of one colour and the two colours on either side of its compliment.   You will have strong visual contrast with nuances with split complimentary combinations.

In this drawing I have used Reds, Blues and Greeny Yellows but not in equal amounts.

Analogous with a little contrast

Analogous colour scheme.  This is three or four colours that are adjacent to each other.  Usually one colour is dominant and the others are used to enhance the whole.

This drawing uses the colours between Yellow (primary colour)  and Blue (primary colour) .    I have also added a little pink which is a contrasting colour.
